What does your new role entail? What is the focus of your research?
I’m the Lead Scientist at a start up tCROTM, Inaphaea Biolabs. In my new role I am responsible for delivering research projects focused on oncology and women’s health for in house projects commissioned by our parent company ValiRx and for clients. As well as the research, I am responsible for line managing the wider lab team.

I moved to a company whose research focus and ethos aligned more closely with my interests and values. As well as this, I was able to reduce my commute, increase my salary and progress my career.
How do you think your move has changed the future of your career? What growth have you experienced?
My new role has given me my first opportunity to manage people and significantly increased my level of responsibility and opportunity for autonomous decision making. I’m gaining a growing understanding of the commercial side of research and developing my skills as a leader.
Leaning on your experience of choosing to make a career move – what advice would you give to someone considering a change?
It’s never the wrong time to explore what other opportunities are out there for you. I think before this move I had a misconception that people only moved jobs when they were unhappy in their current role.

Making the decision to pursue a career in industry after completing my Master’s degree and progressing to Lead Scientist within 3 years.
