Where I started
I began my career in life sciences (too many years ago to mention here) and never left!
I started out in preclinical/nonclinical toxicology, specialising in in vivo and in vitro reproductive toxicology and juvenile toxicology. Leading and developing teams of scientists and technologists became my primary role, and I realised how genuinely fulfilling it is to facilitate opportunities for others, and how gratifying it is to be part of the underpinning support in someone else’s success. That realisation changed the course of my career; I moved into training roles and then into HR, where I have been fortunate to be able to indulge my love of both Talent Acquisition and L&D.
Why Biotech?
While I did work in big pharma for a few years, my background is primarily in SME CRO and, more latterly, biotech start-up. When I went into start-up, I was very quickly bitten by the bug. I discovered how much fun it is (and for the record, I am a huge fan of fun!); I love the pace, the tone, and how it allows me to draw on my broader skillset and really contribute in a meaningful way.
Being part of the underpinning support to brilliant and passionate scientific and technical teams as they innovate to improve human lives? Yep, I can confirm: Biotech start-up is everything it’s cracked up to be!
Increasingly, people want exciting jobs with meaning, where they can make a difference. The sector expands opportunities for people across STEM and those in business functions to develop new therapies and technologies to improve lives.
Personally, it’s provided me with a career’s worth of opportunities to positively impact lives – patients, colleagues, candidates.

Helping each candidate on their journey is rewarding. Supporting them through their initial ramp-up when they join the company, and then helping them fly? That’s my happy place.
I want to be part of making life at work a positive experience by combining my talent acquisition, HR, and L&D skills with my operational background. I am committed to creating a great all-round candidate experience across recruitment, pre-boarding, induction, and onboarding.
